Due to new European guidelines in 2017/2018, Techmar had to change the male plugs on their garden lighting system. This is only an issue when trying to connect a new light fitting or cable to an older system. The new plug will connect to the newer cables but won't plug into the previous sockets. However, this can be adapted without having to buy a whole new system. So, if you purchased a system before 2017 and now want to extend you system, this may be of some help.
The new edition of the male plug now has a plastic guard around the outside of the pins. In the images below you will see the new Techmar male plug in Fig 1, there is now a shield around the outer of the pins. To make this work with you existing system, this shield needs to be removed. Simply score round the base of the shield with a sharp blade or Stanley knife, this will allow you to remove the shield cleanly. It will now look like the plug on the right of the Fig 4, this will simply plug into your existing system as normal.
